Founder Update - Summer 2025

Summer 2025 News and Blends

Happy Summer! This is one of my favorite times of year and July is one of my favorite months! We've got some really yummy stuff happening in the kitchen and I get to celebrate with friends and spend the weekends surfing and paddle boarding. July 13th is my birthday, and I'm heading to Texas to share it with my *fun fact* TWIN brother Michael who's also an entrepreneur.

In addition to the yummy kitchen stuff, this is also the time of year that we do all of our planning and goal-setting for next year! I really think right now is a difficult time to be a business owner with so much uncertainty in the economy and world affairs, but it is also so fruitful. I’m in awe of my team and how they can pull off my “lets try this differently” approach. Our production team honestly makes the granola better than I could ever make and they are the heartbeat of Nana Joes Granola. I am 100% the luckiest to have their support and their commitment.

In the meantime, I’m taking as much time as I possibly can on the evenings and weekends to go surfing at Ocean Beach with friends and enjoy everything the Pacific Ocean has on tap that day. I find myself laughing often at myself because I’m admittedly not a very graceful surfer so my wipeouts keep me humble and I’m still holding out so much hope that one day I might be. But for now I can laugh at the wipeouts and kooky moves I pull on a continuous basis. If you have one book to read this summer, let me recommend Why We Swim by Bonnie Tsui, a poetically written and beautiful perspective on swimming, our relationship to water, and on human behavior itself.

I hope you too are having a few adventures this summer. Keep your eyes peeled in July, we're also finalizing the details on a fun summer launch with our friends at BTR Nation and we’re stoked! I can't say more about it just yet, you’ll have to wait and see, but think of their chocolate hearts…
